Gage, despite not having a permanent job, takes one helping out the Sunday family where he meets Knox, who's back home due to medical conditions. Gage is a wonderful character; sunny, self-deprecating, funny, generous, and caring. When he gets on Knox's bad side for no reason, he believes it's something he did, when it's far from the truth. I enjoyed how their story plays out, how Knox, because of course he has to, falls for Gage because he's one of the sweetest characters written. The secondary characters, mainly the Sunday family, are funny and an anchor for both Gage and Knox. A lovely read and highly recommended! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2021 )

I knew Gage from the Whispering Key series and was ready for him to get his own story. And let me tell you, it's a good one. Knox fights his attraction from the beginning while Gage works on tearing his walls down by just being himself. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Jen Valencia -- Heart and Humor in Little Pippin Hollow... 4.5 stars! : May Archer brought the heart and the humor in the new series starter of hers, and I was all for it. Talk about bringing a smile to my face and keeping it there for the duration of my read. Gage pushing Knox's buttons was priceless, and the banter between the two of them was entertainment galore. I liked how these two seemed like such opposites, but they found some common ground. Gage wanting some distance from his family to find his own way, and Knox needing to return home to be there for his own family brought them together, and it was fascinating to see them go from two people needling each other to being strong support systems to one another. An absolute bonus was getting glimpses of the Whispering Key crew and how they were still keeping tabs on Gage but not in an overbearing way. Okay, maybe just a tad. Hey, they care, and that's what matters! And the Sundays? Gah! These peeps were a hoot, and I can't wait for each of them to get their own happily-ever-afters. Pick Me was a truly great beginning to an already promising series. It gets 4.5 stars. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Dawn Barrell -- Brilliant Start to the Series : What a brilliant start to a new series by May Archer. Gage and Knox are adorable and I loved the crossover with the Whispering Key series, Gage being the baby brother from that series and we did get to hear from some of his family throughout the book. Gage always seemed to be the feisty one with a quick wit and it was lovely to see him striking out on his own and travelling so far from his home to fulfil his dreams. If you haven’t read the Whispering Key series I would really recommend it although it is not necessary to read that series first. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 6, 2021 )

It's the first in a new series which navigates us away from the Whispering Key books, though there are a few references to / very brief cameos by Gage's family in Florida. Overall, I think Pick Me is an enjoyable light read and I'll keep an eye out for the next Sunday brother to get his HEA. 3.75* ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 20, 2021 )

I really enjoyed the Whispering Key series, and the youngest Goodman is one of the main characters in this first book of May's new series.
